February 19 – Mexican Army Day or Día del Ejército
This day celebrates the Mexican Army on the Loyalty Day (“Día de la Lealtad”), when President Madero was escorted by the Cadets of the Militar College to the National Palace.
The Mexican Army is the combined land and air branch and largest of the Mexican Military services; it is also known as the National Defense Army.
The September 15, 1810 , in the village of Dolores, Guanajuato state, a new army came up with ideas of independence Village : Insurgent Army , commanded by priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla , who has seconded several Creole officers belonging to Dragoons of the Queen and communed with the same libertarian ideas.
In the struggle for independence from Spanish rule , the combatant armies were merged to form the Trigarante Army , which made his triumphal entry into Mexico City on 27 September 1821. Not long after the ephemeral Mexican Empire emerge .
Upon the overthrow of Iturbide , who had self-appointed Emperor of Mexico , was born the Conservative Army , receiving Heritage Colonial Army , which begins to change with the entry into force of the 1857 Constitution.
During the rule of General Porfirio Diaz, the Army took another appearance and increased its organization and training , incorporating various technological advances. During this stage it was known as the Federal Army.
With wider revolutionary movement , Díaz was forced to resign the presidency , convocándose new elections in which Madero was triumphant . However, in February 1913 an armed uprising led by Victoriano Huerta , who forced the resignation of President Madero and usurped began. To spread discontent with the murder of Madero, Venustiano Carranza launched the Plan de Guadalupe and the February 19, 1913 , issued a decree that the Constitutionalist Army , which arise our current Mexican Army was created.
In 1932 it was noted on April 27 as a day to celebrate the soldier , this date was chosen to commemorate the heroic deeds of Damian Carmona , which occurred during the siege of Querétaro in 1867. Finally by Presidential Decree of March 22, 1950 was established on February 19 as the day the Mexican Army to commemorate the establishment of our current Armed Institute . http://www.sedena.gob.mx/index.php
