7th Annual Costume Party Talent Show
The women’s organization of Los Cabos Tomatoes celebrated its 7th Annual Costume Party Talent Show on February 18, 2010 at The Original Park Restaurant in Cabo San Lucas.
Each year a different theme is selected with this year’s being “Cirque du Soleil” or circus of the sun. Committee members were Lynn Gutierrez, Margo Harwood, Eloise Constable, and Sandra Berry, creator of the event. A circus ring was created by circling tables and chairs in the large restaurant.
Decorations included long swathes of gold and white fabric, a red carpet, Venetian masks, fabric twisted into trapeze “ropes”, hula hoops, and Cirque du Soleil posters.
Calliope music greeted guests while Omar Ramirez, a versatile performer, stood way above the crowd on very tall stilts handing the 160 attendees a Souvenir Programme. Each person received a bag of popcorn and enjoyed a beverage called a “Painted Lady.”
Hot dogs were provided by the restaurant. A side show included a fortune teller, a 2-headed lady, a fat lady, and a snake charmer. Several “circus” acts were performed, including a dog act, and prizes were awarded for the best costumes and best “talent.”

Maria Corona Restaurant – Tequila Tasting by Cabo Wine Club
Tequila Tasting at Maria Corona Restaurant, organized by Cabo Wine Club. Thursday, January 14, 2010 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
One tequila. Two tequila. Three tequila. Floor. For most, their first encounter with tequila included licking salt off their hand, taking a shot, biting on a lime, and perhaps suffering the day after with a headache. Not anymore. Today there’s a whole new way of enjoying this native drink. When you discover that good tequila is neither fattening nor will it give you a hangover, you may wantto learn more about this indigenous drink of Mexico.
Tana Craighead of the Cabo Wine Club organized a tequila-tasting event at Maria Corona Restaurant in Cabo San Lucas January 14, 2010. The approximately 40 wine aficionados who attended in hopes of learning more about this intriguing beverage were offered samplings of Clase Azul Tequila in blanco and reposado; Los Abuelos Tequila in blanco, reposado and añejo; and finally pomegranate desert tequila, while enjoying traditional Mexican fare prepared by Maria Corona. Tequila experts from Tequilas Premium and Hacienda Tequila were on hand to explain the differences about the aging process.

The Shoppes at Palmilla 4th Anniversary
The Shoppes at Palmilla, the premier shopping-and-dining center located at the exclusive One&Only Palmilla, will mark its fourth anniversary this year, but the celebration kicked off early with a private cocktail party November 13th. The intimate event, which was held at Manuel’s Creative Cuisine, brought together many of the proprietors as well as a few members of the Los Cabos media. Conversation and La Pinta cocktails flowed as revelers dined on Manuel’s exquisite appetizers.
Don’t fret if you missed out on the merriment. Everybody can get in on the action in the coming weeks, when the Shoppes at Palmilla will hold a big and official anniversary party that—like its stores—is open to the public.
In the meantime you can visit the Shoppes at Palmilla at One&Only Palmilla, Carretera Transpeninsular at km 27.5, San José del Cabo, www.theshoppesatpalmilla.com. That is also where you will find Manuel’s Creative Cuisine, (624) 144-6171,www.manuelsrestaurant.com.mx.
